My finger draws instead of turning the page

With an Apple Pencil, the Pencil writes and a finger swipe moves between a word and its sentence. If the iPad’s Settings › Apple Pencil › Only Draw with Apple Pencil is off — or there is no Pencil — the finger writes instead, and the Words / Sentences switch at the top does the moving.

The squares are too big or too small

Settings › Writing › Square size has Small, Medium and Large. Changing it doesn’t move anything you’ve already written.

My progress isn’t on my other iPad

Progress syncs through iCloud, so both iPads need to be signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud on. It can take a few minutes to arrive. Handwriting doesn’t sync; it stays on the iPad it was written on.

Starting over

Settings › Reset everything clears your progress, reviews and kanji set on every iPad, and the handwriting and settings on the iPad where you press it. It asks before it does anything.
